Kushtia, Jna 26 (Just News) : Unidentified miscreants attacked Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari, vice-chancellor of Islamic University in Kushtia early Friday.
The incident took place on Jhenidah-Kushtia Highway adjacent to Boroda area under Shoilokupa upazila in Jhenidah around 3:00am, IU police officer-in-charge Raton Shiekh told New Age.
A group of unidentified miscreants attacked on the vice-chancellor failing tree on road while he was returning to the campus from Dhaka.
The miscreants wrecked the glass of VC’s car with sharp weapons while the driver and VC managed to flee, the police official said.
Later, a team of IU police rushed to the spot, being informed by the vice-chancellor, and rescued him, the OC added.
IU vice-chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari said that the incident was pre-planned. He sought help from the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, for increasing more security for him.
