Dhaka, Aug 21 (Just News): Actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed was released from jail Tuesday afternoon, hours after she was granted bail by a court in Dhaka in the afternoon.
‘Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed was released from Kashimpur jail at about 5:30pm, about an hour after we got the court documents,’ said Kashimpur Women Jail superintendent Md Shahjahan.
He said that Nawshaba’s husband and elder brother received her at the jail gate.
Earlier, a Dhaka court on Tuesday granted bail to actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed, who was arrested from her Uttara residence on August 4 allegedly for spreading rumours on social media during recent student protests for road safety.
Metropolitan magistrate Debbrata Biswas granted her bail on Tk 5000 bond, said Nawshaba’s lawyer AH Imrul Qausar.
Nawshaba was arrested in a case filed under the Information and Communication Technology Act.
Nawshaba was interrogated for six days in two phases until August 13 in custody of cybercrime unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police and was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital later.
According to police report, she spread the rumours to create anarchy and confuse people.
