Russia tells Britain over spy poisoning

‘You’re playing with fire and you’ll be sorry’

Moscow, Apr 6 (Just News): Russia has warned Britain they are ‘playing with fire’ by blaming them for poisoning a former Russian spy and his daughter.

Sergei and Yulia Skripal were found unconscious on a bench in Salisbury, and tests by the MoD showed they had been in contact with Novichok nerve agent.

The UK has expelled Russian diplomats and recruited other countries to do the same, but the Kremlin deny involvement.

‘We have told our British colleagues that ‘you’re playing with fire and you’ll be sorry’,’ Russian UN Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia told a meeting of the 15-member security council that he had requested.

‘Novichok is not copyrighted by Russia in spite of the obviously Russian name,’ said Nebenzia, adding that the United States and Britain had both developed the nerve agent.

He criticised the sources of the British intelligence services, saying reports that Russia had tested Novichok before the attack on everyday objects (such as door handles) was ‘some sort of theatre of the absurd’.

Mr Nebenzya went on: ‘Couldn’t you come up with a better fake story? We all know what the worth of British intelligence information is based on the experience of Tony Blair.’

Yulia Skripal said her ‘strength is growing daily’ in a statement release earlier, but failed to mention her father’s condition.

She said: ‘I have many people to thank for my recovery and would especially like to mention the people of Salisbury that came to my aid when my father and I were incapacitated.

‘Further than that, I would like to thank the staff at Salisbury District Hospital for their care and professionalism.’

Yulia concluded: ‘I am sure you appreciate that the entire episode is somewhat disorientating, and I hope that you’ll respect my privacy and that of my family during the period of my convalescence.’
