Dhaka, Nov 20 (Just News): Acclaimed photographer and social activist Shahidul Alam was freed on bail from the Dhaka Central Jail on Tuesday night after suffering 108 days in jail custody.
Dhaka Central Jail senior superintendent Iqbal Kabir Chowdhury said that the jail authorities released Shahidul Alam at 8:30PM after receiving the release order from the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate.
Lawyers, friends, students as well as well-wishers received Shahidul Alam at the Dhaka Central Jail at Keraniganj.
On August 5 the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police picked up Shahidul Alam from his Dhanmondi residence without showing any warrant or even reason.
Fifteen hours after he was picked, the DB filed a case against him with the Ramna police station under the Information and Communication Technology Act on the allegation that he had instigated school children’s safety road movement in the interview with Al Jazeera and the video posting of his Facebook’s live.
