20-party with BNP to move for Khaleda Zia’s unconditional release

Dhaka, Feb 11 (Just News): BNP-led 20-party alliance will collectively hit the streets to mount pressure on the government to ensure immediate unconditional release of their chief Begum Khaleda Zia.

“The 20-party alliance leaders expressed solidarity to our programme to ensure release of Khaleda Zia. They will participate in the programme actively to meet the demand,” BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir Fakhrul said.

He was addressing a press conference after holding a meeting with leaders of the BNP-led 20-party alliance at Khaleda Zia's Gulshan office in Dhaka this evening.

After a lower court awarded five years’ imprisonment to Khaleda in Zia Orphanage Trust case on Thursday, she landed at the jail on Nazimuddin Road in Dhaka, that plunged the party into a setback ahead of the upcoming national election.

During the meeting, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman also eldest son of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia (now in UK) made a phone call and talked with the alliance leaders, Fakhrul said.

The leaders of the 20-party alliance will talk to more like minded political parties to widen the range of the incumbent alliance and strengthen the movement, the BNP leader added.
