Bodies of 4 Bangladeshi peacekeepers arrive in Dhaka

Dhaka, Mar 15 (Just News): The bodies of four fallen Bangladeshi peacekeepers, who were killed in the line of duty on 28 February, in the Mopti region of Mali, arrived at the Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday.

Warrant officer Abul Kalam Azad, corporal Mohammad Akter Hossin, and soldiers Mohammad Rayhan Ali, and Jamal Uddin were killed when their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED) on the Boni-Douentza road.

Four other peacekeepers were also seriously injured in the attack.

A flight of Emirates Airlines along with the four bodies of the peacekeepers landed the airport around 4:50pm, according to airport officials.

The bodies will be handed over to their families after the namaz-e-janaza of the deceased around 8:30am at Chopper's Den of Dhaka Cantonment on Friday, said an officer of Inter Service Public Relation (ISPR) preferring anonymity.

Earlier on 7 March, a memorial ceremony of the deceased was held at the MINUSMA Operational Base in Bamako of Mali.
