Bus owners to bear treatment cost of student who lost arm

Dhaka, Apr 4 (Just News): The High Court today directed the owners of two buses to bear all the treatment cost of Titumir College student Rajib Hossain who lost his right arm in a collision between the two buses in Bangla Motor area of Dhaka yesterday.

The court also issued a rule asking the government and the bus owners to explain in four weeks why they should not be directed to give Tk one crore to Rajib Hossain in compensation.

Rajib, 22, a third-year student of Government Titumir College lost his right arm after it was sandwiched between two speeding buses trying to overtake each other yesterday.

In the rule, the court asked the government to show causes why they should not be directed to strictly enforce the relevant laws and rules for free movement of the people in the streets.

The High Court bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice AKM Jahirul Haque came up with the order and rule following a writ petition moved by a Supreme Court lawyer, Barrister Ruhul Kuddus Kajal, seeking necessary order for the treatment of Rajib and ensuring free movement of people.

Rajib is undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of Samorita Hospital.
