Khaleda Zia forcibly taken to hospital: BNP

Dhaka, Apr 8 (Just News): Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Saturday said BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was forcibly taken to hospital.

He alleged the Awami League government staged a drama to harass the BNP chief and former prime minister both mentally and physically.

Rizvi came up with the allegation at a press briefing at the party’s Naya Paltan central office in the afternoon.

Earlier in the morning, Khaleda Zia was taken to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University for a medical check-up.

“Khaleda Zia is not well. We’ve heard that seven to eight people repeatedly visited her jail room [this morning] and asked her to get ready hurriedly,” alleged Rizvi.

He went on to say, “The government made a mockery in the name of taking her to hospital. She was not given any treatment. Her personal physician was not even allowed to see her at the time.”

Rizvi said Khaleda Zia was taken to hospital “ostensibly to harass her”.

Khaleda Zia was handled in a disgraceful manner when the car carrying the BNP chairperson reached the hospital, alleged the BNP leader and blamed the authorities for a chaotic situation in the hospital.

He also said even a staircase was not given when she was getting down from the car.

The BNP leader said the former prime minister was dishonoured in the hospital with the law enforcers doing excesses.
