Four farmers killed in lightning strikes

Dhaka, Apr 30 (Just News): At least four people were killed in lightning strikes in four districts – Narayanganj, Sunamganj, Habiganj and Rajshahi -- today.

In Narayanganj, Obaidul Huq, 30, a farmer from Musachor village of Jamalpur was killed after he had been hit by a thunderbolt.

Morshed Alam, officer-in-charge of Sonargaon Police Station the incident took place while the victim was working on a paddy filed.

Meanwhile, two farmers were killed in separate incidents of lightning in Sunamganj and Habiganj districts today.

Md Yeahia, a farmer, was killed after he had been hit by a thunderbolt while working at a paddy field in Dakkhin Sunamganj upazila around 11:00am.

The deceased was from Raipur village of Kanaighat upazila confirmed Md Jakir Hossain, sub-inspector of Dakkhin Sunamganj Police Station.

In Habiganj, another farmer Shamsul Haque, 30, of Japu Kornopara, was also killed as a lightning hit him on a paddy filed in a haor area near the Sutki River around 11:00am.

In Rajshahi, Yakub Ali, 45, of Noupara village in Baneshwar union of the upazila, was killed when a thunderbolt struck him while working on his cropland around 7:00am, Sayedur Rahman Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Puthia Police Station, said.
