Order on Khaleda Zia’s bail petitions Monday

Dhaka, May 27 (Just News): The High Court will pass its orders on Monday on bail petitions filed by BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in three cases.

A bench of justice AKM Asaduzzaman and justice JBM Hasan fixed the date after hearing on the petitions on Sunday.

Attorney general Mahbubey Alam said the court fixed Monday for passing orders on the bail pleas in the three cases.

Of the cases, two were filed in Cumilla on charge of plotting to carry out subversive acts and another in Narail on charge of defamation.

Earlier, on 24 May, the HC fixed Sunday for hearing the bail petitions filed by the BNP chief.

On 19 May, the HC granted permission to Khaleda for filing the bail petitions after her lawyers sought for it.

The Appellate Division earlier on 18 May upheld the High Court order that had granted bail to convicted BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia Orphanage Trust case.

However, the BNP chief was not freed from jail as Khaleda Zia was shown arrested in the cases filed with different police stations in Cumilla, Dhaka, Narail and Panchagarh.

The BNP chairperson is now facing a total of 36 cases.
