Eid travellers must protect themselves: IGP

Dhaka, June 13 (Just News): Inspector general of police Mohammad Javed Patwary advised the homebound persons not to accept food from strangers.

“Eid travellers must protect themselves,” said the top police official while answering journalists about security measures on the highways ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr in Gazipur on Wednesday noon.

He was inspecting overall vehicular movement and the transport situation on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at the Chandona intersection.

The IGP also said passengers should be aware of 'malam party' (who smear ointment in the victims' eyes) and muggers on the highways, reports UNB.

"We've taken all the initiative so that homebound people can reach their destinations without fear," he said.

Coordinated initiatives have been taken to make the Eid trips hassle-free and ensure overall security, said Javed Patwary.

He said district police, highway police and reserve police have been engaged to ensure easy exit from Dhaka, he said.

Control rooms have been set up at different places. Besides, watchtowers and check-posts have also been set up, said the IGP.
