People on mad rush for home

Dhaka, June 14 (Just News): People began rushing towards the capital's bus, train and launch terminals and stations for leaving Dhaka since Tuesday morning to celebrate Eid ul Fitr.

Transport operators said huge pressure of people was seen at these stations as it was the last working day ahead of eid.

So far people are leaving Dhaka and other districts more comfortably than previous years, they said.

The rush of people would intensify after office time, they added.

However passengers alleged about extra fare for bus tickets and late schedule of some trains.

At capital's Gabtoli, Mohakhali and Saidabad inter district bus terminal people started to gather since morning.

The buses were almost running on schedule and tickets were available on counters, passengers said.

Some operators however charging extra Tk 100 to Tk 300 against each ticket on different routes, they added.

Traffic situation is almost normal on Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Tangail highways.

Vehicles are slowly run at Kanchpur point on Dhaka- Chittagong high way while an accident at Mirzapur point on Dhaka-Tangail highway in the morning caused gridlock for a while.

However people are seen to travel by trucks illegally on Dhaka-Tangail highway.

At Kamalapur rail station police barred roof top journey but at Airport rail station hundreds of people were seen to board on train roof.

Some trains including Nilphamari, Sundarban expresses were behind their schedule.

At Sadarghat launch terminal launches are leaving with passengers on southern districts since morning.

Road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, during a visit at Mohakhali terminal, said passengers were not sufferings on roads this year.

Vehicular movement was slow at some points as heavy rainfall damaged some roads, he added.
