Police sees no threat of militant attack during Eid in Dhaka

Dhaka, June 14 (Just News): The top official of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Thursday said that there is no threat of militant attack during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.

DMP commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia made the assurance of peaceful situation while talking to newsmen after inspecting the Jatiya Eidgah where the main Eid congregation would be held.

He mentioned that the law enforcement agencies are keeping close watch on the suspected militants who are freed on bail.

Keeping in mind the militant attack on the Sholakia Eid congregation in Kishoreganj in 2016, tight security measures have been taken, Asaduzzaman said.

Devotees will be allowed to carry jainamaz and umbrella at the Jatiya Eidgah but such belongings will be checked at each entry point, UNB quoted the DMD chief as saying.

However, the police officer added, carrying of hand bags, vanity bags, mobile phones, firearms and sharp weapons are strictly prohibited at the Eidgah for the sake of security.

About the security in the capital during the Eid holiday, he said the police in association with the local security guards will ensure security to the citizens.
