Pinaki Bhattacharya missing, says his father

Dhaka, Aug 12 (Just News): Pinaki Bhattacharya, writer and managing director of a pharmaceutical company, remained “traceless” from the capital’s Gulshan since 6 August.

He went missing after he came out of his office in Gulshan, said Pinaki's father Shyamal Bhattacharya in a statement sent to media houses.

Shyamal Bhattacharya, a Bagura-based teacher and cultural personality, also said in his statement, an official of a law enforcement agency phoned his son on 5 August afternoon and summoned him in his office.

Pinaki, also a huuman rights activist, refused to go there and asked the official to come over his office but the official had called him again and insisted him to go to his office on 6 August. And since then, the family members could not contact him, he added.

Pinaki’s father also said in the statement that Pinaki might have gone in hiding for his safety.

The statement also claimed that some people claiming to be members of law enforcment agencies searched Pinaki’s house and office on 6 August without any specific allegations against him.

Pinaki’s father expressed his concern over the safety of his son and sought prime minister sheikh Hasina’s intervention in this regard.
