Dhaka, Aug 12 (Just News): Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday said that protesters for quota reform could achieve nothing by issuing ultimatum to the government.
At discussion meeting at Milon Auditorium of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University to mark 43rd anniversary of the killing of the founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and family members, Quader, also the road transport and bridges minster, suggested the protesters to give the government some more time.
Earlier on the day, protesters for quota reform threatened to launch tougher movement paralysing the country from September if their detained fellows were not released before the Eid-ul-Azha and gazette notification reforming the quota system in public service recruitment was not published by August 31.
‘You keep trust on prime minister Sheikh Hasina as she promised to resolve the issue,’ Quader said, indicating the quota reform protesters.
He said that the process for reforming quota already started and a good news would come up on time.
Chaired by Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad president Iqbal Arsnal, the programme was also addressed, among others, by BSMMU vice-chancellor Kanak Kanti Barua and Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad Mohamad Abdul Aziz.
