10 quota-reform activists walk out of jail

Dhaka, Aug 21 (Just News): Ten quota-reform leaders and activists who were accused in cases filed with Shahbagh police station have been freed from jail today.

They were released from Keraniganj Central Jail around 12:00pm.

The paperwork for the bail of the ten students was received by the jail authorities and that is why they have been released, Deputy Jailer of Keraniganj Central Jail Jahidul Alam confirmed the matter to the Bangla daily.

The quota-reform leaders and activists who walked out of jail today are, Faruk Hasan, Rashed Khan, Moshiur Rahman, Shakhawat Hossain, Jashimuddin Akash, Sohel Islam, Tarikul Islam, Masud Sarder, Saidur Rahman and Atikur Rahman.

Yesterday, a Dhaka court granted bail to eight leaders of the quota reform movement in connection with three cases filed with Shahbagh Police Station over vandalism, assaulting and preventing police from discharging their duties.

While earlier yesterday, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Saifuzzaman Hero granted bail to 21 quota reformists, who had been arrested on different dates in connection with four similar cases filed with the same police station.
