Keep Rohingya returnees in UN-supervised buffer zone: NHRC

Dhaka, Aug 27 (Just News): National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) today recommended that all Rohingya returnees should be kept in a United Nations-supervised buffer zone before their homes, which were destroyed by the Myanmar army, are rebuilt.

“A little progress is seen in repatriation of Rohingya. World Leaders have only given lip service in the last one year over resolving the crisis,” NHRC member Enamul Haque said at a press conference arranged by the commission today.

The human rights commission also sought punishment under the law for the Myanmar army who were responsible for the killing, rape and human rights violations against the Rohingya people.

NHRC today gave a set of recommendations in light of the current Rohingya refugee crisis.
