Seven to die for killing businessman

Gazipur, Sep 10 (Just News): A Gazipur court on Monday sentenced seven people to death sentence in a case filed in connection with murder of a businessman in 2011 over borrowing money.

The condemned convicts are — Rajib Hossain Raju and Md Kaiyum of Gazariapara in Jaidevpur, Rajib Hossain of Pakundia in Kishoreganj, Faruk Hossain of Dharpara in Kapasia of Gazipur, Shafiqul Islam alias Parvez of Nalgaon in Kapasia of Gazipur, Ali Hossain of Islampur in Jamalpur and Mohammad Ali of Nageshwari in Kurigram.

All of them are also fined Tk 10 thousand each.

The court also sentenced another accused Masud to five years rigorous imprisonment.

The court also acquitted Enamul haque and Shamsul Haque as the charges were not proved against them.

According to the prosecution, there was an enmity between Milon Bhuiyan, son of Habibur Rahman, in Lakshmipur area and the convicts over money.

The convicts obstructed Milon in front of Bhawal National Park on February 26 in 2011 and hacked him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured. He was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Victim’s uncle Akhter Hossain filed a case with Joydebpur police station.

Later, Police submitted charge sheet against 10 people.

After examining all the records and witnesses, Gazipur district and sessions judge AKM Enamul Haque handed down the verdict acquitting two accused.
