Students protest Gonoshasthaya Kendra attack

Dhaka, Oct 27 (Just News): Students of Gonoshasthaya Kendra in Savar which came under attack by vandals yesterday formed a human chain this noon protesting the attack and demanding punishment of the perpetrators.

Around a thousand students formed the human chain around 12:30pm inside the campus.

Meanwhile, Krishak Sramik Janata League President Abdul Kader Siddique visited the campus and talked with students and staff of Gonoshasthaya Kendra.

He strongly condemned the attacks and assured the victims that he will raise the matter in front of higher authorities.

“The attackers must face the highest punishment for such a heinous act of beating up students, assaulting female students and staff and vandalising property of the organisation,” Kader Siddique told journalists outside Gonoshasthaya Kendra after his visit.

Kader also visited Limon Hossain at the surgery ward of Gonoshasthya Hospital, whose right arm was broken in the attack.

Limon Hossain, who is a law student of Gono University, was earlier maimed in Rab shooting and now has physical disabilities.

Vandals broke the windows, doors and looted office equipment of a building of Gonoshasthaya Kendra in Savar yesterday, amid cases being filed against its founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury.

The attackers also hung a banner reading, “Cotton Textile Crafts Ltd” in front of the PHA Bhaban.

Since October 15, five cases have been lodged against Zafrullah, accusing him of land grabbing, extortion and stealing fish and fruits from locals.
