Oikyafront rally begins at Suhrawardy Udyan

Dhaka, Nov 6 (Just News): Opposition alliance Jatiya Oikyafront has begun their rally at Suhrawardy Udyan.

The rally began at 4:00pm in attendance of thousands of supporters and activists of the different political parties within the Oikyafront alliance.

Speaking at the rally, Zafrullah Chowdhury asked the people to cast votes freely. “If you (people) gather at the polling centres, they (government) won’t be able to rig the polls.”

Sultan Mansur warned that tougher agitation will be launched if the government does not accept the seven-point demands of the Oikyafront.

This is the third rally, first in Dhaka, of Oikyafront, what has managed to accumulate major oppositions to ruling Awami League, after formation in October.

Tougher anti-government programmes are expected to be announced from this rally, aimed to force the holding of elections under a nonpartisan government.

BNP and three other political parties including Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Prokriya formally launched Jatiya Oikyafront on October 13. The two other partners in the alliance were Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) led by ASM Abdur Rab and Nagorik Oikya led by Mahmudur Rahman Manna.

Krishak Sramik Janata League also joined the opposition alliance Jatiya Oikyafront, the party’s President Kader Siddique announced yesterday.
