Dhaka, Nov 16 (Just News): Female journalists today demanded investigation into each of the complaints surfacing with the #MeToo tag in Bangladesh and exemplary punishment of the culprits.
They stood in human chain today with banner “Solidarity with #MeToo” in front of the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka this afternoon to press home their demand.
Some 25 female journalists of different media outlets expressed solidarity with the women who recently shared their bitter experience of sexual harassment on the social media.
Addressing the chain, Nasimun Ara Haque Minu, president of Bangladesh Female Journalists' Association, demanded that all the institutions and organisations should implement the High Court guidelines to prevent sexual harassment of women at institutions.
She also urged the government to take effective measures to put an end to the sexual harassment in the work places. “We want the society to be nice and safe for women.”
