No confidence of Khaleda Zia’s counsel in HC bench

Dhaka, Dec 13 (Just News): Counsels of Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia on Thursday expressed no-confidence in the High Court bench of Justice JBM Hassan who was assigned by the chief justice to hear her plea over candidature in Jatiya Sangsad election.

The BNP chief’s counsel former attorney general AJ Mohammad Ali said they have no confidence in Justice JBM Hassan as a judge senior to him had allowed Khaleda Zia to contest polls.

Khaleda Zia’s counsels said it is the practice that a senior judge would hear any petition which had faced split order. So they prefer a senior judge senior to the previous bench judges would hear the petition.

The bench of by Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir passed a split order on the same writ petitions on December 11. Refaat is senior to Justice JMB Hasan.

AJ Mohammad Ali told reporters that they will apply to the chief justice to assign another High Court bench for hearing the petition.

Justice JBM Hasan set December 17 for giving order on the no-confidence.
