2 ‘robbers’ killed in Comilla ‘gunfight’

Comilla, Dec 23 (Just News) : Two suspected robbers were killed in a reported gunfight with police at Zafarganj union in Debidwar upazila early Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Russel and Faruk.

Tipped off that a gang of bandits was preparing to commit robberies on Comilla- Syllhet highway, a team of detective branch of police conducted a drive in Hatimara area adjacent to Zafarganj Bazar around 4am, said Mohammad Shah Abid Hossain, superintendent of Comilla Police.

However, sensing the presence of the police team, the bandits swooped on them, forcing the law enforcers to retaliate that triggered the gunfight, leaving two dead on the spot.

The DB team also arrested five suspected robbers

The SP claimed that five of their members including a sub-inspector were also injured.
