Decision on Khaleda Zia after medical board submits report

Dhaka, Apr 2 (Just News): Jail authorities will decide next course of action after the medical board that examined BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia submits report on her health condition, the deputy director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital said today.

The medical board will submit the report to the director of DMCH, who will then hand it over to jail authorities for further decision, Dr Mohammad Shah Alam Talukder said while briefing journalists at the hospital’s conference room around 11:30am.

A four-member medical board formed for the treatment the BNP chairperson yesterday examined her at old central jail on Nazimuddin Road where she landed on February 8 after a court sentenced her to five years’ imprisonment in in the Zia Orphanage Trust case.

After the examination, the BNP chief has been suffering from some old as well as several newly developed health conditions, but none of them are serious.

The team spoke with Khaleda Zia, 73, and observed her health condition in presence of Dhaka's Civil Surgeon Ehsanul Karim, said Prof Shamsuzzaman, head of orthopedic department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, also chief of the four-member board yesterday.
