Stay on Khaleda Zia’s Bail: Hearing begins on 2 appeals

Dhaka, May 9 (Just News); The Supreme Court today resumed the hearing on the two appeals against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's High Court bail order in a corruption case.

A four-member bench of the Appellate Division of the SC, headed by the chief justice, is conducting the hearing.

Khaleda Zia's lawyer Advocate AJ Mohammad Ali this morning finished placing his arguments praying to the SC to dismiss the appeals.

Advocate Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, another lawyer for the BNP chief, is now placing his arguments.

Yesterday's SC hearing on the two appeals witnessed commotion from a section of lawyers.

At one stage, Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain was forced to say that his court could not continue the hearing if the commotion did not stop.

The government and the ACC had filed two petitions with the court against the HC bail order in the Zia Orphanage Trust case.
