Opposition leaders hold talks over forging national unity

Dhakan, Aug 28 (Just News): Top leaders of different political parties, including Gonoforum, Bikalpa Dhara and Nagorik Oikya, held a meeting at Dr Kamal Hossain’s Baily Road residence in Dhaka this evening to form a national unity ahead of the upcoming general election to be held at the end of December.

The meeting started around 8:00pm where Bikalpa Dhara President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury, Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President ASM Abdur Rob attended, among others, to this end, reports our staff correspondent.

Gonoforum President Dr Kamal Hossain has been stressing the need to forge a national unity among the political parties for the last few months.

Gonoforum and Jukto Front, an alliance comprising Bikalpa Dhara, JSD and Nagorik Oikya, have reportedly made some progress in this regard.

Dr Zafarullah Chowdhury, a pro-BNP intellectual, attended the meeting on behalf of BNP on formation of the grand alliance.

Further details could not be known immediately as the meeting was still going on when this report was filed at around 9:20pm.
