Khaleda Zia critically ill, needs treatment immediately

Dhaka, Sep 7 (Just News): BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was forced to appear before a makeshift court inside the old Dhaka central jail on September 5 even though she was ill, her lawyer Zainul Abedin said today.

After meeting with the BNP chief at the old central jail at Nazimuddin Road in Old Dhaka, Zainul said, “Khaleda Zia is not fit for appearing before the court and she needs to be treated immediately.”

Zainul, a vice-chairman of BNP and also the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), said the BNP chairperson is “critically ill”.

Khaleda Zia is also suffering from problem in her left eye, the lawyer said.

During the meeting, Khaleda Zia told the lawyers that the government is trying to punish her in Zia Charitable Trust case in the same way it has done in the Zia Orphanage Trust case.

“I was not involved in any sort of corruption. The government has confined me in the jail as part of its politics of vengeance,” Zainul said quoting Khaleda Zia.

Four lawyers -- Advocate Zainul Abedin, Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, Advocate AJ Mohammad Ali and Advocate Abdur Rezak Khan -- met the BNP chairperson this afternoon.
