AL not to indulge in confrontations: Quader

Dhaka, Sep 27 (Just News): Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday said that his party will not indulge in any political confrontation but it will remain alert on Saturday when Bangladesh Nationalist Party too will hold a rally in Dhaka.

Referring the proposed BNP rally and the workers meeting of the Awami League-led alliance in Dhaka on September 29, Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said on the day the Awami League leaders and activists will not remain out on the streets to avoid political confrontations.

After a meeting of the party secretaries at its central office at Bangabandhu Avenue, Quader said the AL-led alliance will hold its workers meeting at Mahanagar Natyamancha on September 29.

Still, the BNP is yet to get police permission for holding rally on September 29 and moreover BNP has shifted the date from September 27, Quader said.

‘We will not involve with any political confrontation before the national election but our leaders and activists will remain alert and ready to face any anarchies politically, if created by BNP.

And the law enforcers will resist the anarchists, Quader added.

The Awami League will go on countrywide mass contact from October 1 to 7, Quader announced.

AL advisory council member Yusuf Hossain Humayun, joint general secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif, and Abdur Rahman, organising secretary Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, secretaries Afzal Husain, Faridunnahar Laily, Biplab Barua and others attended the meeting.
