BNP to satge rally in capital Sunday

Dhaka, Sep 29 (Just News): The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) was finally given permission on Saturday to hold its planned public rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Sunday.

"The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) authorities have given us written permission on different conditions to stage our rally tomorrow (Sunday) at Suhrawardy Udyan,” BNP publicity affairs secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anne told UNB.

The BNP leader said DMP commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia gave them the permission as he and party organising secretary Abdus Salam Azad met him at his office around 11:30am.

On Monday, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a press conference said that they sought permission from the authorities concerned to hold a public rally either at Suhrawardy Udyan or in front of their party's Naya Paltan central office on Thursday.

But the party rescheduled it on Tuesday for Saturday.

Meanwhile, the party on Thursday sought fresh permission from the DMP authorities to hold the public rally on Sunday as the authorities reportedly requested it to change the rally schedule and submit a fresh application for the permission.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said they will unveil their party's future course of action and strategy at the Suhrawardy Udyan public rally.

The party’s standing committee member Moudud Ahmed hinted that their party will announce fresh action programmes from the rally.
