BNP calls for unity to oust undemocratic govt

Dhaka, Sep 30 (Just News): Urging all the democracy loving forces to get united to oust the ‘undemocratic government’, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Sunday announced a seven-point charter of demands and a 12-point goal to hold a free and fair election under a neutral government.

The party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the demands and goals at the party’s rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka.

The demands include unconditional release of party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia withdrawal of false cases against her before announcement of the election schedule, withdrawal of all false cases against the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman and all other political leaders, dissolving parliament and stepping down of the government before polls, forming neutral government consulting all political parties and reconstitution of the Election Commission.

Alamgir also announced a 12-point goal to hold a free, fair election.

The BNP also announced nationwide rallies at district headquarters to press home the seven-point charter of demands and submitting memorandum to deputy commissioners’ office on October 3.

On October 4, the party will also hold rallies at divisional headquarters and metropolitan cities and submit memorandum to divisional commissioners.

Thousands of leaders and activists of the party poured into Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka to attend the rally.

The rally was organised demanding release of the party chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail and holding next general poll under a neutral government.

Leaders and activists of BNP and its front and associate organisations from Dhaka city and different parts of the country started gathering at the venue around 11:00am.

They came to the venue in processions carrying banner, festoon, placard with images of late president Ziaur Rahman, imprisoned BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and acting chairman Tarique Rahman.

Precisionists chanted slogans demanding release of Khaleda and anti-government slogans.
