Scrap lopsided polls schedule: Leftist parties

Dhaka, Nov 10 (Just News): Leaders of the Left Democratic Alliance on Saturday at a rally in Dhaka rejected the announced election schedule of the next general elections and demanded fresh schedule by 24-hours.

The LDA held a rally in front of the National Press Club where its coordinator and also general secretary of the Revolutionary Workers Party Saiful Huq said the Election Commission had announced the schedule of the election unilaterally and hurriedly on Thursday.

The political parties will not be able to complete procedures of selecting their party candidates to contest the elections on December 23, Saiful said.

He called on the Election Commission to announce a fresh schedule giving more time consulting with the political parties.

‘We want fresh schedule within 24 hour otherwise Left Democratic Alliance will announce march towards the Election Commission,’ he said.

Socialist Party of Bangladesh central leader Bazlur Rashid Firoj, Ganasamhati Andolan chief coordinator Zonayed Saki, Communist Party of Bangladesh presidium member Shazzad Zahir Chandan, central leader Kafee Ratan, United Communist League of Bangladesh general secretary Moshrraf Hossain Nannu, among others, spoke at the rally.

The rally was followed by a procession that paraded different city roads.
