Dhaka, Dec 11 (Just News) : BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has received a split order of the High Court on whether she will be an eligible candidate for the general elections.
The High Court bench today delivered a dissenting order on three writ petitions filed by Begum Khaleda Zia against Election Commission’s rejection of her nomination.
Now, the orders and the petitions will be forwarded to Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, who will constitute another bench for disposing the petitions.
After hearing today, Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, the senior judge of the bench, directed the to accept Khaleda’s nomination, while Justice Md Iqbal Kabir ordered a denial.
The senior judge also issued a rule asking the EC to explain why its decision about the nomination paper of Begum Khaleda Zia should not be declared illegal.
