Dhaka, Jan 31 (Just News): Detectives today arrested former Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) president Azizul Baree Helal and four other BNP activists from Moghbazar area.
With the five, police have either arrested or detained around 100 BNP leaders and activists in the last two days in connection with the yesterday’s incident. Yesterday police detained around 20 persons from High Court area following the incident.
Asaduzzaman Mia, commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said detective branch of police arrested Azizul Bari Helal and others on specific charges of attacking police and snatching two detainees from police prison van.
The four other BNP men were identified as Mohan, Partha, Babu and Masud.
“We have started a drive and it will continue to arrest those, who carried out the attack and those who were behind the scene,” he said.
