Share prices showing downtrend

Dhaka, Dec 3 (Just News): The prices of most shares on both bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- witnessed a negative trend in the early hours of trading on Sunday.

Within first two hours of trading, the benchmark index of the country's premier bourse went down by 5.31 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse shed 8.34 points.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, shed over 5.31 points or 0.08 percent to stand at 6,301.54 points at 12:20pm.

But the two other indices saw a positive trend till then. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) rose 1.51 points or 0.10 percent to stand at 1,383 points.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also advanced 1.82 points or 0.08 percent to reach 2,271.96 points.


The turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stood at Tk 2,261.84 million on the DSE.

Of the issues traded till then, 139 advanced, 114 declined and 58 remained unchanged.

BD Thai Aluminum Limited was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 182.68 million changing hands, followed BRAC Bank, AB Bank and Padma Islami Life Insurance.

The port city bourse - the Chittagong Stock Exchange - (CSE) also posted a downward spike till then with its Selective Category Index - CSCX - losing 8.34 points to stand at 11,795 points, also at 12:23pm.

Of the issues traded till then, 73 gained, 62 declined and 35 issues remained unchanged with Tk 69 million in turnover.
