Sri Lanka takes tri-nation series

Dhaka, Jan 27 (Just News): Bangladesh conceded a humiliating defeat by 79 runs in the final of the tri-nation series on Saturday when Sri Lankan pacer Shehan Madushanka took a hat-trick on his international debut.

Earlier, the Tigers restricted visiting Sri Lanka to 221 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka city.

Sri Lanka lost all of 10 wickets to reach the moderate score in 50 all overs. Bangladesh pacer Rubel Hossain picked four wickets, and Mustafizur Rahman got two, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Mohammad Saifuddin got one each.

Chasing the score, the Tigers lost its opener Tamim Iqbal (3) in the sixth over. One of the key batsmen and the co-opener Mohammad Mithun followed suit just after earning 10 runs off 27 balls.

Another top order batsman Sabbir Rahman got out bagging only 2 runs off 9 balls.

Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad shared a partnership of 58 off 13.2 overs in the 4th wicket stand to recover the Tigers early loss.

Mushfiqur was then caught by Upul Tharanga off Akila Dananjaya to depart from the 4th stand scoring only 22.

Mahmudullah got out at 76 as the last wicket and the hat-trick wicket of Madushanka.
