Digital World 2017 kicks off

Dhaka, Dec 6 (Just News): Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today inaugurated ‘Digital World’, an exposition organised to showcase the progress of Bangladesh’s IT industry, at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka.

The event held at the cost of Tk 12 crore will remain open for visitors from 10:00am to 8:00pm every day for four days.

PM inaugurated the event around 12:00 noon in presence of Sophia, a humanoid robot that generated quite a buzz among the youth and the artificial intelligence industry around the world.

Sophia will be before public at the inaugural ceremony from 2:30pm to 4:00pm today.

So far, 162 companies including Google, Facebook, Motorola, Qualcomm have signed up for Digital World 2017 with the slogan ‘Ready for Tomorrow’.

In last year’s edition of the exposition, about Tk 70 crore worth of work orders were received. This year work orders worth even more are expected to be received.

The organisers -- the ICT Division and the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services – expect to have about 400 exhibitors from home and abroad and 5 lakh visitors.
