A schoolgirl was killed and 25 others injured after a picnic bus turned turtle on a road in Dumuria upazila of Khulna this morning.
Deceased Meghna was an eighth grader at Shyamnagar Girls High School in Jashore Sadar, our local correspondent reports quoting police.
The incident took place when a school picnic bus carrying around 65 students was heading to Bagerhat from Jashore around 11:30am, said Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of Dumuria Police Station.
At one stage, the bus driver lost control over the steering and the vehicle overturned on the road near a madrasa at Akundia in the upazila, leaving Meghna dead on the spot.
The injured were taken at the upazila health complex and Khulna Medical College Hospital, the OC added.
