Announce fresh Ducsu polls schedule in 3 days

Dhaka University’s vice chancellor has been handed a three-day ultimatum to declare fresh schedule to Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) election.

The panels of the leftists, independents and quota reformists who boycotted Ducsu election together, handed a memorandum to VC Prof Akhteruzzaman in this regard today.

In hundreds, they paraded through the campus chanting slogans and went up to the office of the VC and staged a short protest in front of the Registrar Building.

“Ducsu is our right. We the five panels of Ducsu election want to say clearly that we don’t accept the election or its results,” said Liton Nandi, leader of leftists’ panel.

“We have been sued in lawsuits. We want to say, our movement cannot be downed with suits. It will only give momentum to our spirits and movement,” he said.

Aroni Samonti Khan, leader of the independent panel, said: “The authorities must give fresh election schedule in three-days. Or we will go for tougher agitation at campus.”

Faruque Hossain, a panel leader of the quota reformists, said: “The authorities must declare fresh schedule by Saturday. They must withdraw the false cases filed against us.”

Later, a delegation went up to the office of Dhaka University VC Prof Md Akhteruzzaman and handed him a memorandum.
