Police arrested Indian comedy show Mirakkel’s Bangladeshi star Mohammad Kaikobad on Wednesday for allegedly raping a Chittagong University student.
He is also a student of the university’s dramatics department.
Kaikobad was arrested from the campus after a female student filed a case against him, said Belal Uddin Jahangir, officer-in-charge of Hathazari police station.
According to case statement, the two met on Facebook in January, 2018, and had an affair. Kaikobad later forced the girl into a physical relationship by blackmailing her.
The victim said Kaikobad asked her to meet him on April 29 on the campus. He allegedly verbally abused her and physically assaulted her before dragging the girl to the Shah Amanat Hall’s guest room.
Later, the university’s proctorial body members rescued her, the victim said.
