Rice price hike brings sufferings to the poor: Muith

Dhaka, Dec 24 (Just News) : Finance minister AMA Muhith on Sunday said poor people are suffering much because of the price hike of rice.

He also said the board of directors of the Grameen Bank would be reconstituted before expiry of the current tenure of the present government during dividend handing over ceremony of the Grameen Bank.

Muhith said the government had wanted increase in price of rice for benefitting farmers. ‘But the price hike of even coarse rice over Tk 50 is not expected at all,’ he added.

He said the reconstitution of the Nobel Peace prize winning bank has been delaying because of cases filed by former managing director Muhammad Yunus during a dividend handing over ceremony of the Grameen Bank at secretariat.

He said Yunus and his followers are master of filing cases.

Grameen Bank handed over Tk 6.1. crore as dividend for 2016, around Tk 30 lakh higher than 2015.
