Bangladesh remittance inflow rises by 4.47%

Dhaka, Dec 3 (Just News): The country’s remittance inflow has witnessed a 4.47 per cent rise in November, compared with last month of October 2017.

The increase is 27.68 per cent higher than that of November last year.

According to Bangladesh Bank spokesman Subhankar Saha, country received $1.214 billion of remittance in the just concluded month of November. Bangladesh fetched $5.768 billion in last 5 months of the current fiscal year (2017-18), which is 10.76 per cent higher compared with that of corresponding period in last fiscal (2016-17).

Bangladesh Bank statistics show that the country received $1.115 billion remittance in July this year from the expatriate Bangladeshis living abroad while $1.418 billion came in remittance in August, $856.87 million in September, and $1.162 billion in October.

Of the $1.214 billion remittance in November, the 6 state-owned banks received $269.67 million while the remaining $945.08 million was received by private, foreign and specialized banks.

Of the six state-owned banks, the Agrani received $103.97 million while Janata $69.53 million, Rupali 11.29 million, Sonali $84.78 million and BASIC $0.10 million but BDBL received no remittance.

Among the private banks, Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) received the highest remittance of $205.90 million while it was followed by Duch-Bangla Bank’s $58.51 million, City Bank’s $54.64 million and NCC Bank’s $53.81 million.
