Bollywood drug case: Comedian Bharti Singh, her husband arrested

Comedian Bharti Singh and her husband have been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Mumbai for questioning.

They found a "small quantity of cannabis" from her home on Saturday morning.

Sameer Wankhede, investigating officials, told news agency ANI: "Ms Singh and her husband were called for questioning about possession of narcotics substances."

The agency searched their house as well as two other locations in Mumbai after questioning a drug peddler.

The raids began after investigations into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Actor Arjun Rampal and Ms Demetriades were questioned after recovering substances from their home. However, Arjun Rampal’s agency office claimed that the substances were part of a prescription.

"I am fully cooperating with the investigation. I have nothing to do with drugs. The medicine found at my residence was prescribed. The prescription has been found and handed over," he said.

The NCB arrested Paul Bartel, an Australian architect, Demetriades brother’s name came forward after questioning.

Mr Bartel was granted bail on Thursday by the special court that granted him relief observed to prove that there was no "substantial material."

NCB recovered 10 grams of marijuana from Shabana Saeed’s home during a raid.

In order to identify the network of supply of drugs among celebrities over the last few months, top Bollywood actors have all been questioned by the NCB.

After Sushant Rajput's death, texts about purchasing drugs were found on his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty's phone.

Many were arrested for allegedly arranging drugs for the 34-year-old actor.
