The Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police detained acclaimed Bangladeshi teleplay maker Chayanika Chowdhury in Panthapath area in the capital city of Dhaka on Friday evening.
DB was yet to press any charge against her, but an official said that they would quiz Chayanika over a case filed against popular Bangladeshi actress Pori Moni over possessing narcotics.
Chayanika appeared in a talk-show on a private television channel on the afternoon for talking over the arrest of Pori Moni by the Rapid Action Battalion.
DB detained Chayanika after she had left the television channel on her private car, said a DB official.
She was then taken to the DB office in Mintoo Road for quizzing.
DMP deputy commissioner (media) Faruque Hossain said that she was detained for interrogation and might be released after quizzing.
Chayanika is close to Pori Moni and she was by the actress’ side when Pori Moni alleged of a rape and murder attempt on her at Dhaka Boat Club.
Pori Moni stared in a lead role in Chayanika’s silver screen directorial debut Bishwoshundori in 2020.
