A Dhaka court on Wednesday framed charges against Shamsunnahar Smrity, popularly known by her stage name Pori Moni, and two of her associates, in a case filed under Narcotics Control Act.
The others are Ashraful Islam Dipu and Kabir Hossain.
The three pleaded innocent and demanded justice after Judge Md Nazrul Islam of Special Judge Court-10 of Dhaka read out the charges.
The judge dismissed the petitions submitted for discharging Pori Moni and the two others from the charges of the case.
The judge fixed February 1 for starting trial of the case.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion detained Pori Moni and Dipu on August 4 last year. They seized alcohol and narcotics from Pori Moni’s house.
The following day, the two were shown arrested in the case filed with Banani Police Station.
Later, Kabir was shown arrested in the same case.
On September 1, Pori Moni was released from jail on ad-interim bail, four weeks after her arrest.
