4 Bangladeshis killed in Bahrain building collapse

Manama, Oct 11 (Just News): Four Bangladeshi nationals were killed and 26 more injured in a building collapse in the Bahrain capital Manama.

An official of the Bangladesh embassy in the Middle East country confirmed the news of the accident.

Three of the deceased were named as Abdul Hanan from Poranpur village of Kochua and Zakir (single name) of Haziganj in Chandpur, and Joynal of Brahmanpara of Cumilla. The identitty of the fourth victim could not be confirmed immediatly.

Abdul HananTwo more Bangladeshis who suffered serious injuries were undergoing treatment at intensive care unit of a hospital there, Bangladesh diplomat Ashraf Ahmed told Prothom Alo.

The three-storied building adjacent to Net Super Market on Al Mirza Road in Manama collapsed on Tuesday night, according to local people.

It was initially suspected that a gas cylinder explosion may cause the accident at the building which is said to be old.
Around 50 Bangladeshis lived there and most of them hailed from Cumilla region.

Law enforcement and volunteers conducted rescue operation as they brought the injured people to the central hospital in Salmania.
