Journalist leaders have formed a human chain at Dhaka's Jatiya Press Club protesting the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit's (BFIU) move that sought bank account details of 11 of them.
The protest commenced around noon today. According to the latest report, the leaders are currently holding a rally there.
Leaders of Jatiya Press Club, two factions of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), and Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) are present at the programme.
On September 12, BFIU issued letters to all banks seeking bank account details of 11 prominent journalists who head different platforms.
Journalist leaders have previously stated that seeking bank account details is "unprecedented, defamatory, and ill-motivated."
