Probe recommends action against eight police for torturing journalist

Chittagong, Mar 15 (Just News): A probe committee of Barisal Metropolitan Police finding facts of torturing journalist Sumon Hasan recommended departmental action against eight members of detective branch police.

Runa Laila, assistant commissioner of BMP and head of the three-member probe committee, on Thursday acknowledged that the committee after visiting the victim at the hospital, places of occurrence, and interviewing the witnesses found evidence of torturing journalist Sumon Hasan.

‘We will submit probe committee report to authorities concerned as soon as possible recommending departmental action against the all of the eight members of DB team of BMP involved with the incident,’ Runa Laila said.

Primarily the accused were closed from duty and one constable suspended.

On other hand, agitation program of journalists continued on Thursday demanding exemplary punishment of the liable police personals for inhuman torturing on innocent DBC News camera person Sumon Hasan on Tuesday.

These programmes incuded human chain in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall, sit-in of photojournalists and bringing out procession on city roads.
