Justice Abdul Wahhab resigns

Dhaka, Feb 2 (Just News): Appellate Division’s senior-most judge Md Abdul Wahhab Miah resigned on Friday hours after Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain was appointed as chief justice superseding him.

‘My father submitted his resignation letter to the president on his personal reason at 6:30pm,’ Mohibullah Tanvir, son of Justice Abdul Wahhab, said this.

Mohibullah said the president’s office received the letter of resignation submitted through his father’s personal assistant Abdul Kashem.

Justice Wahhab Miah had been carrying out his duty as the acting chief justice since October 3, 2017 after the then chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha went on leave.

The post of the chief justice fell vacant after Sinha resigned on November 10, 2017 nearly three months before his scheduled retirement on January 31, 2018.
