Two Kuwaitis imprisoned over Bangladesh MP Shahid link

The public prosecution of Kuwait on Friday imprisoned a Manpower Authority official and a former National Assembly candidate for 21 days to the central prison in a case related to Bangladesh lawmaker Mohammad Shahid Islam.

The case was filed against the lawmaker on charge of human trafficking.

Last week, the public prosecutor had decided to extend Shahid Islam’s detention for 21 days.

A well-informed source said that more high profile names were found in the case as investigations continued to take place with the accused and witnesses, reports Arab Times.

Earlier on June 30, the Kuwait government suspended Major General Mazen Al-Karrah, a senior official at the interior ministry, on allegations of receiving bribes from and making a questionable financial transaction with Bangladesh MP Mohammad Shahid Islam.
