Police on Monday arrested three people accused in a case filed for attempting to rape a girl inside a bus of Savar's Ashulia.
The rape attempt had taken place on Friday at Dendabor Amin Model Town area when the 16-year-old girl got into an empty bus of Shatabdi Pribahan after being allegedly offered by her male friend that he would drop her home.
The arrested are: Arif, the girl's male friend, Arif's associates Sohidul Islam, 28, and Sojib, 19, confirmed Inspector (Investigation) Jabed Masud of Ashulia police station.
Inspector Masud said the arrestees were produced before a court after the girl filed the case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
The girl was sent to the One-stop Crisis Centre at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for forensic tests.
According to the case filed, the girl was at one of her friend’s house in Ashulia's Bypile area. On being offered that her friend Arif will drop her home, she boarded the bus which was driven by Arif.
Locals rescued the girl upon hearing her screams as Arif and his associates attempted to rape her, the case details further mentioned.
